It would seem that Jensen may have been a dandelion in a former life. He must get cuter with each life. Maybe in his next life he'll be a polar bear or something of the like.

Biking Along the Potomac River (Sept 29, 2007)

Probably the last voyage that our free bicycle will have before conducting major surgery on it. It needs fixin', that became apparent to us when we were peddling but not going anywhere. The blue "Rollfast" has been on some good trips with us this short summer that we've been proud owners.

The reason we visited Manhattan over Labor Day weekend was to pay China-town a visit to buy 2 new turtles.

The lighter-colored baby is "The Kernal", named after Jon's favorite snack (popcorn), and the darker baby's name is "Nessie", named after melissa's favorite snack (Nesquik chocolate milk).

The big turtle is Lincoln who is about one year old now. We wanted Lincoln to have some friends but he's still jealous and territorial, we've official separated him from the babie's, he's not a fan.

M.I.A.

Although it appears we have no life, or have had no life, for the last 2 months, that would be an entirely incorrect assumption. Better said is that we have a super eventful life, yet very ordinary all the same. The blame is mostly to be cast on a faulty internet connection, later work hours, some intense revamping of our dinner system to create straight-from-mom's-recipe-book meals, travel, aaaaand....we're slow. When it comes to blogging that is.

Just to keep any of you that might actually be reading this on your toes, we have loads of photos ready to place on our happenin' blog, and we're just waiting for the prime moment to post them. Otherwise, we're alive and well and happy as ever--but what do you expect when it's fall in the east, you have 3 pet turtles, and you actually hit a point in your life where you make more than you spend? Fall is beautiful without textbooks.

Home of the Original George W. • Mt. Vernon (July 28, 2007)

Our favoritest thing at Mt. Vernon was the baby hogs, and their fat hairy mom lying in the mud hole. Too bad they have to grow up, huh? The mansion was pretty cool too I guess. We mostly got distracted by wandering cows and a gopher that poor unknowing tourists called a "beaver". Washington was the man. He gardened exotic flowers, did food storage, broke horses, landscaped, and wore some nasty dentures made with stainless steel and animal teeth. We witnessed them and were grossed out first hand. And um, he founded our nation. Rock on, George.

4th of July, 2007

We visited a day in the life of "The Mall", by enjoying bands, dancing, parades, "fireworks" :) and all manner of patriotical strategery. These images capture just a couple of the high points of the day; and what a day it was. Needless to say, we fit right in with our fellow DCers.

Happy Birthday Jonny Boy!! (July 1, 2007)

Jon may or may not be 29 now. Melissa hand-carved this lincolnesque turtle out of pure cake, and flourescent green and blue frosting. No, we're not obsessed with our turtle. We had a wicked groovin' party, and a very budgeted gift exchange. Lucky for both of us, Jon is happy with chocolate candy bars.

The National Zoo (June 23, 2007)

We were probably the only "grown-ups" there that were just as entertained as the toddlers. We'd highly recommend the giant pandas, gorillas, and the sea otters. Turns out, the National Zoo is FREE, and as you know, we're suckers for the free stuff. This alone would make your flight to DC worth it. Well, that and our stunningly entertaining presence.

Ward Campout in the "MOUNTAINS" of Virginia (June 9, 2007)

Aside from the stifling humidity, ridiculously hot air, and the plentiful mosquitos, our outing was quite lovely. The lodging was spacious in our tent built for 10, occupied by 2. Here in VA, women do the backpack carryin'.

Memorial Day in DC (May 28, 2007)

But here we really did at least see the President. For real. We, quite obviously, were the stars of the day however. From looks, you'd think we're kind of a big deal. I mean, are we in Arlington Cemetery or Hollywood?? And for the record, we wear our sunglasses at night.

West Wing Tour (May 26, 2007)

It's all who you know. Our friend Cliff took us on a personal tour of the White House's West Wing, where we met Pres. Bush, Sec. Condoleezza Rice, and Governor Schwarzenegger. Now we've all made arrangements to start our early morning jog club together every Monday-Friday, 5:30 EST. Or we at least met the White House guards, who all looked really bored.
